Think back to your days in gym class. Did you struggle with mastering the perfect pushup? This type of strength-training exercise has long been touted for muscle development, but not all of us willingly get on the floor to build our physiques. Now there’s an app that helps with pushup motivation.

The Hundred Pushups app provides a six-week training program to help even push-up novices master 100 consecutive pushups.

There are two versions of the app available. The first one works on iPhone and iPad for the individual user. This version retails for $1.99. There is also a newly released multi-user version that retails for $2.99. The multi-user version is perfect for families or even fitness gung ho co-workers who want to have a friendly pushup competition.

Both versions of the app keep track of the days and weeks to ensure that users stay on schedule with the program. An initial “exhaustion test” allows the app to calibrate to each user’s current level, so that users will experience more success with the program. This test determines how many pushups you should start out with for your current fitness level. The app also includes a timer so that rest breaks are built-in between sets.

The app provides graphs and logs of user activity, which can be exported. As users progress through the six-week program, they can share their successes via Facebook and Twitter.

Many of the apps features are similar to other motivational fitness apps, such as C25K. If you’re struggling to find the enthusiasm to get back into shape or need an extra push (no pun intended) to get back your fitness mojo, this app may be just what you need.
