Want 2 dish with the Mayor?

The  Mayor resumes his bi-weekly open forums this Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

“These are informal sessions for anyone to come in and talk directly with me on any town topic that concerns them” said the Mayor in an email.

The Mayor indicated that some residents may not be as comfortable speaking in a more formal setting, such as a Town Council Meeting where residents are required to speak at a podium and identify themselves. The informal setting allows him the opportunity to speak one on one, or with a few people at a time.

No formal agenda or topic is set for the public forums; however, the procedure is not set in stone and specific agendas could be used in the future.

Attendance has fluctuated over the past few months. Residents have stopped by to discuss a wide array of topics ranging from juvenile complaints to the I-70 annexation currently being considered by the town.

The Mayor added, “The forums have allowed me to hear from those that might otherwise remain silent. Face to face can be much more productive than email.”

The Mayor also encourages Town Council Members to participate.

The Town promotes this event through the Mayors report and on the Town’s website. If residents have questions regarding the forums they can contact the Mayor directly at prockinberg@gmail.com or at (301) 448-2598.

In addition to this Saturday’s forum, the next scheduled forum is on Nov. 20.
